Coastal Carolina University, located in South Carolina, USA, is an academic member of FIABCI. Its Wall College of Business includes a Center for Real Estate and Economics focusing on commercial, industrial
and investment property. There is an active university Real Estate Club.
The University regularly obtains internship opportunities for its students throughout the year in the USA and overseas
to enhance their knowledge and gain practical business experience. For the near future, due to the current pandemic, it is anticipated that a substantial proportion of internships – although by no means all – will be virtual. This will apply particularly
to overseas placements.
FIABCI members are invited to consider appointing Coastal Carolina students as interns. They can work part-time or full-time for periods of between one month and three
months. Their studies, covering a wide range of business subjects, are likely to be relevant to most real estate organizations. They include:
- Property investment and development
- Real estate appraisal
- Investment analysis
- Economics
- Research
- Communications, public relations and graphics
- Marketing
- Finance (including Financial Management)
- Accounting
- Business Administration
The terms of employment are flexible. As a guide, remuneration is generally in the region of US $10 to US $12 per hour and the normal minimum period of engagement is 180 hours. This provides 3 university
credits for the student. However, the quality of learning experience is a primary factor and every effort is made to meet the employer’s requirements. Hours are generally worked during a fall, spring or summer semester.
